20 cow small family dairy in Sonoma County, California specializing in quality show cattle. We are a small farm in Sonoma County California...one hour north of San Francisco. We have 20 milk cows and 20 heifers...We only milk 8-10 cows at our residence, the others are 6 miles up the road at the larger (600) cow dairy in Santa Rosa. We have show cows at home, and care for them accordingly. We are interested in hosting an intern to show them CA dairying. We began this interest after hosting a friend from Austria who needed practical experience to graduate from his Agricultural College. This worked out well for him, as they milk 20 cows which is a normal size herd for his area. This experience has made us wonder if our operation is suitable for the type of exchange program you operate. We will be showing at WDE at the end of the month and wonder if it's possible to make a connection with you there. Can you give me information? Also, we would be open to hosting a trainee as soon as possible. Our family also owns and operates two feed mills, with a feed store and a hay & trucking company. We would offer: family experience, cultural opportunities within our community (we are very active), 4H, FFA, local farm visits, Central Valley dairy visits, a room, etc. We are active with our local, state and national Holstein Assn's.
